Barcelona: The Catalan club is interested in Galatasaray star Aleksey Batrakov!
Barcelona's interest in Galatasaray's 21-year-old midfielder Aleksey Batrakov is still in its early stages, with the club simply keeping an eye on him before their Champions League clash against the Turkish side.
Sources indicate that the Spanish giants have only made a casual inquiry about the player, who previously played for Lokomotiv Moscow. No formal offer or serious move has been made, as Barcelona feel they already have enough options in the attacking midfield position.
For his part, Batrakov holds a long-standing ambition to wear the Barcelona shirt and would be open to a future switch to Catalonia if the chance arises.
Barcelona considering an alternative to Olmo
Olmo's heart remains firmly set on Barcelona, so a departure anytime soon seems out of the question. Even so, the midfielder is eager for more consistent minutes on the pitch, especially with Fermin Lopez pushing him for the No. 10 spot.
That dynamic could carry real weight when Barcelona map out their transfer plans. Juggling Olmo, Fermin and Batrakov within one squad would be a delicate act, all the more so if the three of them ended up fighting for the same attacking midfield role.
As things stand, nothing suggests Barcelona are laying the groundwork for a Batrakov deal. Their enquiry looks more like a chance to run the rule over a highly regarded talent than a sign that a transfer is around the corner.
