Serie A: Venezia sack Giovanni Stroppa after six consecutive defeats
Venezia FC announced the dismissal of Giovanni Stroppa on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Promoted to Serie A at the end of the 2025-2026 season, the Italian coach is paying the price for his team's poor start to the season, with the club bottom of the league with zero points after six matchdays.
In a statement published on its official website, the Italian club confirmed the end of its collaboration with the coach. “Venezia FC announces that it has relieved Giovanni Stroppa of his duties as head coach of the first team,” the Venetian club said.
The club also wished to thank the coach and his staff for the work carried out during their time there. Under Stroppa's leadership, Venezia secured promotion to the top flight at the end of a successful 2025-2026 season in Serie B.
But the return to the top flight quickly turned into a nightmare. After six matchdays, the Arancioneroverdi have a record of six defeats, zero points, five goals scored and 16 conceded. This start to the season hastened the departure of their coach.
Venezia must now find a successor capable of reviving the team and helping it move off the bottom of the table.
