Before Jamal Musiala… these three players fell victim to neurological disorders
German international Jamal Musiala is going through a challenging period with Bayern Munich due to some health concerns.
In the space of just four days, he suffered two episodes that led to brief absences from play.
On Saturday against Leipzig (3-1), and then again on Tuesday versus Heidenheim (4-2), the player lost touch with reality due to a neurological disorder.
In a message posted on his Instagram account, he sought to reassure his fans: “I have been diagnosed with short-term absence seizures, which occur temporarily but are treatable. They are caused by a neurological dysfunction.”
Jamal Musiala is not the only player to have suffered from neurological disorders. In fact, several other global football stars have experienced almost identical situations during their careers.
Ronaldo (Il Fenomeno)
The legendary Seleção striker suffered a generalized epileptic seizure just hours before the 1998 World Cup final between Brazil and France.
After enduring intense stress, he broke down before the grand finale of the 1998 World Cup. Having not fully recovered from his episode, he missed his mark in the final, much to the dismay of the “auriverde” supporters.

Bafétimbi Gomis
Former French international Bafétimbi Gomis struggled with neurocardiovascular episodes throughout his professional career.
He collapsed on the pitch multiple times, whether with the French national team or during his stints with Swansea City, Galatasaray, AS Saint-Étienne, and Olympique Lyonnais.
His episodes were diagnosed as benign. In fact, his loss of consciousness was mainly attributed to a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.

Leon Legge
Former Brentford defender Leon Legge was diagnosed with epilepsy from a young age, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying a remarkable professional career.
He racked up an impressive record of 36 goals and 10 assists over 407 matches in all competitions.
He has become a role model and an inspiration in England for athletes living with this neurological disorder.
