Hours after the end of the Benfica vs Real Madrid match (0-1), UEFA reacted to the incident that occurred during the first leg of the Champions League playoff. The incident involved Gianluca Prestianni and Vinicius Junior. In an official statement, the European governing body stated that "the official reports from last night's matches are currently under review."

UEFA specified that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated if the facts are confirmed, in accordance with its regulations, and that any potential sanctions will be published on its disciplinary website. The organization added that "no further information" nor "any additional comment" will be provided at this stage, as the matter remains under review.
