A hero's welcome and a traditional tribute

Following a grueling yet historic campaign, Gavi returned to his roots in the Andalusian town of Los Palacios y Villafranca.

The young star was honored alongside fellow hometown hero Fabian Ruiz. In keeping with a unique local tradition, both champions were weighed and presented with their exact body weight in locally grown tomatoes, a gesture of immense pride from the community honoring their global achievements.

€1.3m investment in social housing

In response to the overwhelming affection, Gavi announced a profound humanitarian gesture. Touched by the struggles of local families unable to afford basic heating during the winter, the midfielder decided to use his financial success to make a tangible difference.

Key details of the initiative include:

  • Financial Investment: A direct €1.3 million contribution from Gavi's personal funds
  • Beneficiaries: The project aims to provide stable, dignified accommodation for approximately 300 vulnerable residents
  • Objective: Sources confirm the initiative is a purely philanthropic endeavor with zero commercial or investment motives

Never forgetting his roots

Gavi’s deep connection to his community stems from his humble, working-class upbringing.

Before his move to Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, he grew up closely observing the daily struggles of the working class, helping his father, Pablo, while his mother, Gema, worked in the laundry department at Real Betis.

Reflecting on his journey, Gavi shared an emotional message across his social media channels:

"Thanks to my family and friends, and all the hard work and sacrifices we made to get here, I can say today that it was all worth it and I am ready to repeat this journey all over again"
