CAF hands Chahine Bellaouel a light sanction!
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially closed the case of Algerian defender CS Constantine's Laïd Chahine Bellaouel this Wednesday, after confirming the detection of a banned substance in his system during last season.
Light sanction for Chahine Bellaouel
The CAF disciplinary committee decided to suspend him for only one month. Having already served this suspension, the player is now free to immediately rejoin his club and return to competition.
Bellaouel underwent a routine doping test following one of his team's matches. While awaiting the final decision, he was provisionally excluded from training and official games.
In his first reaction, the player expressed relief at the leniency of the punishment, describing the period as “difficult but formative,” and affirmed his determination to come back stronger.
At 24 years old, Laïd Chahine Bellaouel has played a crucial role in CS Constantine's Confederation Cup campaign, making 11 appearances and leaving a strong impression on the team's defensive performances.
