Unisport du Haut-Nkam reaffirmed its position at the top of the table this Thursday with a 1-0 win over Coton Sport de Garoua at the Stade Gaston Ngadjui in Bafang. The sole goal of the match was scored by Rostand Mbai, giving the Flambeau de l’Ouest a four-point lead over their rivals from Garoua.

Despite a hard-fought contest, Unisport made the difference with clinical finishing in front of goal. The Flambeau de l’Ouest, determined to hold onto their lead at the summit, managed to withstand the pressure from Coton Sport, who came into the clash as their main title contenders. This victory allows Unisport to pull away in the standings and firmly stake their claim for the top spot in the MTN Elite One.

Coton Sport struggling to find their footing

Without head coach David Pagou on the sidelines, Coton Sport struggled to impose their style of play and leave Haut-Nkam empty-handed. The northern club now finds themselves falling further behind in the title race and will need to quickly regain their rhythm to stay in contention.

Gazelle FA regains confidence against Canon Sportif

In another early fixture, Gazelle FA de Garoua defeated Canon Sportif de Yaoundé 2-1. Serge Daura shined with a brace for the visitors, while Oussama pulled one back for Canon in the dying moments, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Despite a burst of pride, the Yaoundé side could not turn their dominance into points. The club will need to correct course in the coming matchdays to remain in the hunt for a top finish.
