Mission accomplished for Côte d’Ivoire. A 2-1 victory over Tanzania this Tuesday in Casablanca. With 7 points, the Elephantes top Group B and keep their journey alive at the 2026 Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Ouedraogo and Konan strike

Before halftime, Nsira Safi Ouedraogo broke the deadlock, finishing off a pass from Inès Konan. Solid and focused, the Ivorians doubled their lead in the 68th minute, with Inès Konan calmly converting a penalty. Tanzania pulled one back very late, in the 90+9th minute, but it was too little, too late. The Elephantes never wavered.

A triumphant return, 10 years later

Back in the tournament thanks to the Women’s AFCON expansion from 12 to 16 teams, Côte d’Ivoire is making a statement on their return. The results speak volumes in this unpredictable Group B. They opened with a bang, thrashing Burkina Faso 4-1, drawing 2-2 with South Africa, and now a 2-1 win over Tanzania. Seven points, no defeats.
