In a recent interview, Samuel Eto’o did not mince his words about the management of national team coaches in Cameroon. He addressed the recent case of Marc Brys.

When asked about the renewal of David Pagou’s contract, Samuel Eto'o made a point of highlighting the work of the local coach while implicitly criticizing past decisions. “If the Federation has the means to pay an incompetent foreign coach, it is only right to invest billions in promoting a competent Cameroonian coach,” he declared. A barely disguised dig at Marc Brys.

With David Pagou, Samuel Eto’o seems to have found the winning formula. During AFCON 2025, Cameroon showed an exciting side despite being knocked out in the quarter-finals by Morocco.
