The Al-Hilal defender recounted a surreal moment:
"It was Yassine Bounou who told me. We’re always together, we get along really well. We were together and someone called him and told him the news. So he told me, and I was totally thrown off, I thought he was joking. But no, because two seconds later, I received the CAF statement."
He continued:
"Yassine said to me: you’re no longer African champions, now we’re the champions. He was laughing but with Yassine, we have such a good relationship that there’s never any problem (…) We started to realize that it was real and it wasn’t so funny anymore."
