CAN 2025 - Senegal: Firm statement from FSF over alleged tensions with Pape Thiaw

On the eve of the round of 16 clash between Senegal and Sudan at CAN 2025, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has decided to break its silence and respond forcefully. The federation has refuted rumors of alleged tensions with national team coach Pape Thiaw.

In a statement released from Tangier in recent hours, the FSF unequivocally denounced "the persistence of certain rumors and information spread by parts of the press, suggesting the existence of a conflict or underlying tensions between the federation and the national coach." This firm clarification puts an end to the speculation.

The federation also took the opportunity to reiterate the nature of the relationship between its leadership and the technical staff. The FSF further emphasized the close connection between its president, Abdoulaye Fall, and national coach Pape Thiaw. "Beyond strictly professional and hierarchical relations, the FSF President maintains extremely cordial and fraternal ties with the national coach and all members of the technical staff," the statement read.
