PSG secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

PSG made their intentions clear early in the first half. Picked out inside the box on the left, Doué lobbed Mamardashvili with a shot deflected by Gravenberch (1-0, 11’).

After the break, Kvaratskhelia dazzled past Gravenberch and Mamardashvili to double the lead (2-0, 65’). Moments later, PSG thought they had won a penalty after Konaté’s challenge on Zaïre-Emery, but the referee overturned his decision after consulting VAR.

Paris could have finished the match with an even bigger advantage. The Parisians squandered several clear chances in front of goal, but dominated proceedings from start to finish (2-0). PSG will travel to Anfield next week with confidence riding high.
