Chimy Ávila wants to stay at Betis

Argentine forward Chimy Ávila will ultimately not join Mexico's Pumas. Although a deal seemed imminent, the player has turned down the offer and wants to continue his journey with Real Betis.

According to journalist Álvaro Muñoz Gómez, Ávila intends to honor his contract with the Andalusian club until June 2027 and keep competing at the top level of European football at age 31. Having arrived from Osasuna in January 2024 for €4 million, he has yet to secure significant playing time with Betis.

Despite a nearly finalized €2 million transfer to Pumas—which would have helped Betis settle the remainder of his transfer fee to Osasuna—the striker has opted to stay. There were also other offers from Qatar, but Chimy Ávila chose not to consider them. Even though the Qatari market closes on September 15, the Argentine seems determined to continue his La Liga adventure with Betis.
