The Moroccan football giant recently ended its association with South African coach Rhulani Mokwena due to poor results.

Moroccan coach Amine Benhachem stepped in as interim manager for the last three matches of the Botola Inwi.

Here are three key factors driving Faouzi Benzarti's potential return to the helm at Wydad.

World Cup experience

The former "Carthage Eagles" head coach boasts extensive experience in the Club World Cup, having led Raja Casablanca to a historic second-place finish at the 2013 edition hosted in Morocco.

WAC is gearing up for a landmark appearance in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, set to kick off in the United States from June 13.

The draw landed Wydad in Group G alongside Juventus, Manchester City, and Al Ain.

Past successes

The Tunisian manager left a strong impression during his previous stints with the Moroccan side, further boosting his popularity among the fans.

Benzarti has taken the reins at WAC on four separate occasions, most recently in the 2023-2024 season.

He secured three trophies and reached the CAF Champions League final in 2019.

The USMo miracle

The Tunisian tactician has recently rediscovered his spark after overcoming a period of stagnation in recent years.

This season, he pulled off a true feat with Union Sportive Monastirienne, propelling the club to second place in the national league while also qualifying for the Tunisian Cup semifinals.
