Brazil: Ancelotti confirms the end of an era for Neymar, Danilo and Casemiro! (Official)
The coach is preparing to renew the Brazil squad after the World Cup, but wants to keep some key players, including Marquinhos.
Just days after Neymar’s most recent appearance, his international retirement with Brazil has been confirmed. Now focusing on his career at Santos FC, the 34-year-old forward believes his journey with the Seleção has come to an end.
“My adventure with the national team is over. I made history and I’m very happy about it. I gave everything and always fought for the yellow jersey, but I think I don’t want to anymore,” he explained.
Ancelotti turns the page
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the last World Cup marked the end of a major generation. Besides Neymar, the Brazil coach is not expected to rely on Danilo and Casemiro any longer.
“I think this World Cup marks the end of a generation of very important players. Starting with Neymar, but also Danilo and Casemiro,” he told Globo.
However, the latter two have not yet officially announced their international retirement. Marquinhos, on the other hand, is expected to be part of the squad renewal.
