The 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic is far from trivial. It has pushed Sheffield Wednesday into uncharted territory in English football history. The Owls have become the first club to go an entire year without a single home victory since the creation of the English Football League in 1888.

Their last win at Hillsborough dates back to April 21, 2025, against Middlesbrough FC (2-1). Since then, the club has endured a string of underwhelming performances and bitter disappointments in front of their home crowd.
