FIFA: UEFA launches new offensive against Gianni Infantino
UEFA does not intend to stop. The European governing body is putting pressure on Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA.
According to information from The Athletic, UEFA sent a letter to FIFA on Monday containing 42 questions about several controversial decisions by its president. The European governing body is once again demanding explanations over the awarding of the Peace Prize to Donald Trump, the suspension of Folarin Balogun's sanction during the 2026 World Cup and the abandoned plan to sell 20% of FIFA's commercial activities for $4.2 billion.
Gianni Infantino must explain himself over Donald Trump
In its letter, UEFA wants to know the criteria that led to Donald Trump, the president of the United States, being rewarded, as well as whether he may have intervened in the Balogun case. It is also demanding details about the origin of the abandoned financial project, for which Infantino has already apologized.
FIFA's responses, accompanied by supporting documents, are expected before November 2. It should be recalled that several figures in world football are now calling for the departure of FIFA's president, who is standing for re-election.
