Champions League: Nicolas Jackson leads African scorers after two matchdays

Nicolas Jackson leads the African scorers’ chart after the first two matchdays of the league phase of the Champions League 2026-2027. The Senegalese striker of Aston Villa has scored three goals, ahead of Serhou Guirassy and Assane Diao, who have two goals each.

Nicolas Jackson has scored in his first two appearances in the competition. After scoring in the opening matchday, the Senegalese striker scored twice against Fenerbahçe on Wednesday, October 14. Aston Villa won 6-0, with two goals from their centre-forward.

Serhou Guirassy and Assane Diao follow with two goals

Behind Nicolas Jackson, Serhou Guirassy is among the most effective African players at the start of the campaign. The Guinean Borussia Dortmund striker scored two goals in the first two matchdays. He shares that tally with Assane Diao, the Senegalese international who plays for Como.

Other African players also found the net during the second matchday. Algeria’s Anis Hadj Moussa impressed for Feyenoord, while Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman scored for Atlético de Madrid. Morocco’s Abdessamad Ezzalzouli also scored for Real Betis.

These performances highlight the presence of several representatives of the continent among the decisive players at the start of the competition. Nicolas Jackson nevertheless retains the lead with three goals, ahead of Guirassy and Diao.
