Former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro skating on thin ice
Former Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is under pressure at Swedish topflight outfit AIK Fotboll amid a six-game winless run in the league.
The Spanish mentor saw his charges salvage a point in a 2-2 draw with IFK Goteborg in their last outing, equalizing in the 75th minute through Axel Kouame.
AIK, as a result, currently sit in ninth place on the Allsvenskan table, having accumulated 34 points in 24 matches and trail log leaders Sirius with 21 points.
Having been tasked with securing a ticket to European football next season, Riveiro is adrift of the objective set by the hierarchy, with six matches remaining.
He last tasted victory at the end of August, securing a 3-2 win over Hammarby, which was a fourth consecutive triumph across all competitions.
Riveiro took over the reins at the 12-time Swedish champions in January, putting pen to paper on a deal that's set to run until December 2028.
This came after a tumultuous spell at Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he was shown the exit door three months into the job after a string of poor results.
Whether Riveiro will see out his contract at AIK remains to be seen, having earned plaudits for beating Hammarby in the Stockholm derby in August.
