From Nairobi to Cairo: Zamalek Unveil Baron Ochieng

Zamalek SC've officially announced the signing of Kenyan right back Baron Ochieng on 4 year deal after completing his free transfer.

Details of the Transfer

According to the club’s media center, the 19 year old penned his contract in the presence of sporting director John Edward after finalizing all agreement details.

The Cairo giants unveiled their new signing with video captioned:

"From the jungles of Nairobi to Mit Okba"

How the Move Happened

Reports confirm that Zamalek initially tried to sign Ochieng before the August deadline as underage player.

The deal was delayed until confirmation arrived from the Kenyan FA regarding his free agent status following the termination of his contract with Sofapaka FC.

During the past days, Ochieng trained with Zamalek awaiting final paperwork. The young defender'd also been linked with African champions Pyramids FC though talks never advanced.

Player Profile

Ochieng represented Kenya U20 at the last CAF U20 Africa cup of Nations. He's expected to provide cover & competition for captain Omar Gaber, the only natural right back currently in the squad.

Zamalek’s Position in the League

The White Knights are second in the Egyptian Premier League with 10 point from 5 game. They face leaders Al Masry of Port Said who sit 1 point ahead, this Saturday in top of the table clash.
