Jan Oblak set for Atlético Madrid exit

After more than a decade at Atlético Madrid, Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak could be heading for the exit this summer. Having joined from Benfica in 2014, the 33-year-old shot-stopper has featured in 532 official matches for Los Colchoneros and remains under contract until 2028.

This season, he played 40 games, including 10 in the Champions League, where he even provided an assist. According to Radio Nacional de España, the club is reportedly open to letting him leave, but Oblak is unwilling to take a pay cut, which could pave the way for a move to Saudi Arabia.

To replace him, Atlético could turn to Leo Román, the 25-year-old current Mallorca goalkeeper. Under contract until 2030, Román has played 23 La Liga matches this season and is seen as a credible option to step into the role.
