Kaizer Chiefs closing in on Jonah Fabisch signing

Foot Africa understands that Kaizer Chiefs are on the verge of completing the signing of highly-rated midfielder Jonah Fabisch ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The Zimbabwe international has been the subject of widespread interest after catching the eye in the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco in December.

He featured in all three of the Warriors' group stages matches against Egypt, Angola, and South Africa, against whom he registered an assist in a 3-2 defeat.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Fabisch opted to represent Zimbabwe at international level owing to his maternal ties, despite being eligible to turn out for Germany.

Notably, he cut his professional teeth in Germany and went on to spend his entire career in the country, with his latest stint coming with Erzgebirge Aue in the third division.

Fabisch has made over 200 appearances across all competitions in his club career, chipping in with 37 goals and 22 assists, and won the Saxony Cup last season.

Now, sources have informed this publication that the 24-year-old midfield general is closing in on a switch to Soweto giants Chiefs on a free transfer.

The utility player touched down in South Africa on Wednesday afternoon ahead of his proposed move to Naturena, which is subject to medical checks and final formal steps.

It's understood that the two parties are in advanced talks as discussions are described as positive and progressing, with only finer details left to iron out to complete the deal.

His experience is deemed crucial by newly appointed head coach Fernando da Cruz, with Chiefs set to return to the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
