Kenya: Alpha Onyango rescues Gor Mahia with stunning late goal against Nairobi United
Gor Mahia needed a moment of individual brilliance to avoid defeat against Nairobi United in the FKF Premier League on Sunday, as their opponents continued a difficult start to the campaign.
Onyango denies Nairobi United historic win
Nairobi United looked set to secure their first victory of the season after taking an early lead through Seremba in the 15th minute.
The goal came from a swift counterattack. Goalkeeper Benard Jairo collected Daniel Sakari's long throw before releasing Ovella Ochieng, who beat Shariff Musa and squared the ball for Seremba to finish.

Gor Mahia struggled to find an equaliser before half-time, prompting coach Patrick Aussems to make several changes after the break, including the introductions of Ebenezer Assifuah, Paul Okoth and Patrick Esombe.
Alpha Onyango came close to levelling the score in the 68th minute, but his effort struck the woodwork with Jairo beaten.
The Harambee Stars midfielder eventually found the breakthrough in the 89th minute. Spotting Jairo off his line, Onyango produced a superb long-range lob to make it 1-1 and rescue a point for Gor Mahia.
Gor Mahia return to the top
The draw takes Gor Mahia to 13 points, level with KCB at the top of the FKF Premier League table. Both teams also have the same goal difference.
For Nairobi United, the wait for a first league victory continues after seven matches. The result also extended Naiboi's unbeaten run against K'Ogalo to four competitive matches.
The contest was also marked by tension, with heated exchanges involving the technical benches and confrontations among supporters. The late equaliser, meanwhile, denied Nairobi United a result that would have eased the pressure on coach Patrick Aussems.
