Luka Jovic set for a return to Madrid?

Free since leaving AC Milan in June, Luka Jovic could be on his way back to La Liga.

According to the Spanish daily AS, Getafe are interested in signing the Serbian striker, who is eager to play in Spain again and settle back in Madrid. At 27, Jovic saw his two-year contract with Milan expire without renewal. He has since been linked with Cruz Azul (Mexico) and Botafogo (Brazil), but his preference is clearly a return to Spain. Getafe appears to be a serious option, provided they can free up space in their wage bill.

To finance his estimated €3 million annual salary, the Madrid club is reportedly ready to part ways with Borja Mayoral, their highest-paid player, as well as young Christantus Uche, who is attracting Premier League interest. Last season, Jovic made just 17 appearances for Milan, only eight of them as a starter, scoring four goals. Despite limited playing time, Getafe sees him as a player capable of reigniting his career while boosting the club's profile.
