The situation between Napoli and Romelu Lukaku is rapidly deteriorating. The Belgian striker, who has remained in Belgium to continue his recovery, has sparked frustration among club officials despite his attempts to smooth things over on social media.

In a message posted on Instagram, Lukaku insisted he could "never turn his back on Naples," but that hasn’t been enough to ease tensions within the club, with his absence from group training sessions being poorly received.

Sporting director Giovanni Manna made his position very clear:

"Romelu decided to stay in Belgium to train and recover from his injury. We are not happy, as we would have liked to speak with him here in Naples. He is expected back next week, and he knows there will be consequences."
