Orlando Pirates hold exploratory talks over Ghanaian wonderkid
Exclusive
Foot Africa understands that Orlando Pirates have held exploratory talks with Hubert Gyau's entourage over a possible move to the lucrative Betway Premiership.
The 20-year-old midfielder recently signed with South African-based agency Prosport International as new representatives in February 2026.
Gyau currently plies his trade in his native Ghana for Asante Kotoko, having joined the Porcupine Warriors at the beginning of the season from Berekum Chelsea.
He put pen to paper on a long-term deal set to expire in June 2029 amid growing interest in his services from a host of clubs on the continent.
The dynamic player has made 32 appearances across all competitions, including the CAF Confederation Cup, and has five goals to his name thus far.
With Gyau widely tipped to make the final Ghana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this publication has learnt that Pirates are closely monitoring his situation.
The Buccaneers are understood to be informed on deal conditions after informal talks with the player's agent, but sources described any potential deal as premature.
It remains to be seen whether Pirates will act on their interest, although the four-year deal could prove a bargaining chip for Kotoko in the event of negotiations.
