Paraguay: the insults, Didier Deschamps sets the record straight

In a fiercely contested match between France and Paraguay in the Round of 16 of this 2026 World Cup, tensions ran high.

During the press conference, Les Bleus' manager Didier Deschamps expressed his regret over certain insults hurled by the Paraguayan staff. "I'm not here to criticize Paraguay—every team plays the way it wants to, even if I could have done without the insults coming from the opposing bench, especially some of them," admitted the French coach, without going into details.

One question remains: did the Paraguayans target Deschamps' mother, who passed away during this tournament, in the heat of the altercation?
