Foot Africa can reveal that Betway Premiership side Polokwane City have completed the signing of Malebogo Modise on a free transfer ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 27-year-old left-back joined the Limpopo-based outfit following his exit from Chippa United at the end of last season, where he made 31 appearances in all competitions.

Notably, he still had a year remaining in his contract with the Chilli Boys but opted to severe ties with the club, with details surrounding his untimely departure undisclosed.

Modise made a total of 71 appearances since joining Chippa United on a permanent deal from Mamelodi Sundowns in August 2024 after a series of loan spells.

Now, sources have informed this publication that Modise has signed for Polokwane City and has already joined the team's pre-season camp as they gear up for the next term.

The former South Africa youth international will compete for a starting berth with Tlou Nkwe, who has established himself as a reliable figure at left-back.

Meanwhile, Foot Africa understands that Rise and Shine have also roped in 19-year-old striker Lucky Malatsi from Orbit College after the Northwest side's relegation.

He featured 14 times for the Mswenko Boys in the 2025/26 campaign, chipping in with a solitary goal in the Betway Premiership, and is now set for a new chapter up north.

On the other hand, Polokwane City confirmed the appointment of Bayano Moloto as the club's new head coach as first reported by this publication.

The Seshego-born mentor succeeds Phuti Mohafe, who has since taken over at Marumo Gallants after guiding City to a seventh place finish in the league last season.

Having secured three consecutive top eight finishes, it remains to be seen how Polokwane City will fare under the tutelage of Moloto in the upcoming campaign.
