Preparations for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations: Senegal out for revenge against Nigeria on June 8
The Senegal women's national team faces Nigeria this afternoon in Ikenne in the return leg of their double-header friendly as both sides gear up for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
The match kicks off at 15:00 GMT at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne. After a thrilling first encounter, coach Mam Moussa Cissé’s Lionesses are eager to put on a different display. Trailing by two goals after strikes from Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne, Senegal salvaged some pride thanks to a goal from Soukhna Nougay.
Up against the Super Falcons, the most decorated team in African women’s football, Senegal are fine-tuning their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The draw placed Senegal in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya. The Lionesses are determined to prove they can turn the tables even in the toughest of circumstances. Meanwhile, Nigeria are aiming for back-to-back wins to keep their momentum going. The Super Falcons will compete in Group C with Egypt, Zambia, and Malawi.
