PSG – Inter Miami: Lucas Hernandez delivers a strong message!
On the eve of the highly anticipated Round of 16 clash at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami, PSG defender Lucas Hernandez insisted that Lionel Messi’s presence will not alter his team’s tactical approach.
This encounter is particularly special, as the Argentine superstar faces his former club for the first time since leaving the French capital.
Lucas Hernandez: “We won’t change our style for Messi”
In an interview with L’Équipe, Hernandez stated firmly: “We’re going to play with our usual style, the one we’ve refined since the start of the season. We believe in our football identity: ball control, occupying space... And that doesn’t change regardless of the opponent, even if it’s Messi.”
The 2018 World Cup winner also praised the Argentine legend: “Messi is an extraordinary player, an icon of world football. But here in Paris, we play to win. It doesn’t matter who stands in front of us. We trust ourselves, we’re truly combative, and our goal is clear: reach the quarter-finals.”
Confidently, he added: “We’re the ones who set the tempo. We don’t adapt to others, it’s up to them to adapt to us. We respect Inter Miami, but our priority remains our own game.”
Finally, regarding the weather conditions: “It’s very hot, with high humidity, which makes physical effort tougher. Fortunately, the match will be played in an air-conditioned stadium. That’ll allow everyone to perform at their best.”
