KRC Genk has officially announced the signing of Rafiu Durosinmi from Pisa SC. The 23-year-old Nigerian striker has joined for a fee of €10.5 million—a record sum in the Belgian club’s history. In addition to the transfer fee, Pisa will receive 10% of any future resale of the player.

A new challenge in Belgium

This transfer is historic for both clubs. Genk has completed the most expensive signing in its history, surpassing the €7 million invested in Théo Bongonda back in 2019. Pisa, for its part, also registers the biggest sale in its history.

A Nigerian international, Rafiu Durosinmi joined Pisa last year after a spell at Viktoria Plzeň. Despite the Italian club’s relegation, he featured in 12 Serie A matches, scoring once and providing an assist.

What’s next?

By signing Rafiu Durosinmi, Genk is betting on a striker with tremendous potential to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new season. The Nigerian now has the opportunity to reignite his career in the Belgian league.
