Rulani Mokwena bags award in Egypt

Rulani Mokwena has been named the Egyptian Professional Footballers' Association (EPFA) Coach of the Month for August after an impressive start to his reign at Pyramids FC.

The 39-year-old South African mentor masterminded three victories on the trot last month, beating Ghazl Al Mahalla, Abo Qir Semad, and Al Masry SC respectively.

Mokwena has won four matches in charge of the 2025 African champions in the league, and secured two victories over Gor Mahia of Kenya in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round.

Notably, Pyramids currently sit fourth on the Egyptian topflight standings with 12 points accumulated from four matches, and return to action with a clash against Al Sharkeyah-ENPPI on Thursday.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor has been tasked with clinching the league title, winning domestic cup titles, and mounting a deep run in Africa's elite club competition.

Meanwhile, Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenaway scooped the Egyptian Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Month accolade for August.

The 35-year-old shot-stopper kept four clean sheets in that period, becoming the only goalie yet to concede in the Egytian Premier League thus far this season.

With games set to come thick and fast after the looming FIFA international break, the pair will be eager to maintain momentum and win more awards throughout the course of the campaign.
