Mory Diaw has yet to reach the next level with the Lions of Teranga due to fierce competition for the goalkeeper position.

The number one spot in Senegal still belongs to Edouard Mendy (33 years old, 39 caps). As for Diaw, he is currently battling Yehvann Diouf (25 years old, 1 cap) for the backup role.

Having transferred to HAC this summer, the 32-year-old keeper isn’t worried about his standing in the Senegalese national team. For him, respecting the hierarchy is what matters most.

In an interview with Foot Mercato, the Poissy native explained: "With the national team, you set your ego aside. You’re there to serve your country. Edouard is a keeper who won the AFCON and has done a lot for the squad. I can’t just show up today and say I want to be number one. There’s a hierarchy and you have to respect it. Everything I do is for the nation."

The former Clermont Foot goalkeeper has played three matches for the Senegal national team, including the famous friendly victory over Brazil (4-2) in June 2023.
