The standoff continues between Al-Ahly and Wessam Abou Ali. The Palestinian striker has been excluded from the first team squad for missing his physical and medical assessments.

This is the summer saga at Al-Ahly: Will Wessam Abou Ali leave or stay during this summer transfer window? The 26-year-old has made clear his desire for a change of scenery, but the Cairo club's management refuses to let him go at any price.

The Aalborg (Denmark) native skipped both fitness tests and his scheduled medical appointments, including his MRI, without notifying club officials.

The club released a statement on its official X account announcing the player's immediate exclusion.

Sporting director Mohamed Youssef, after consulting with head coach José Ribeiro, has decided to exclude Wessam Abou Ali from the squad traveling to Tunisia on Friday for a training camp from July 18 to 26. This decision was made because the player failed to complete his fitness tests, MRI, and medical check-ups within the required deadlines. In addition, he missed training sessions and rehabilitation appointments without prior notice.

This decision only complicates the situation for the former Sirius striker, who remains under contract with the Red Devils until June 2028.
