Transfer market: An Ivorian defender set to arrive in the SPL!

Newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Al-Najma continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season.

In a major move, the club is on the verge of securing the services of Ivorian international defender Eric Bailly (31), who is a free agent after leaving Villarreal.

Romano: Bailly on the brink of joining Al-Najma!

According to renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Eric Bailly is expected to sign with Al-Najma very soon. The former Manchester United player is set to join the Saudi club on a free transfer.

Romano confirmed the news via his official social media channels:

"Exclusive | Al-Najma are close to finalizing the arrival of Eric Bailly to bolster their defense.

The ex-Villarreal and Manchester United player is about to open a new chapter in the Saudi Pro League."

Last season, Bailly made just 12 appearances for Villarreal, with 4 of them coming off the bench. Despite inconsistent performances, the Ivorian defender remains a valuable asset thanks to his experience at the highest level.

Developed at Espanyol, Eric Bailly has also played for Villarreal, Manchester United, Olympique de Marseille, and most recently Beşiktaş. Known for his physical power and defensive discipline, he has, however, struggled with discipline, often penalized for his tough tackles.
