Mauricio Pochettino has decided to step down as head coach of the United States men’s national team following the conclusion of the World Cup, according to Nicolò Schira.

The 54‑year‑old Argentine has received an official offer from AC Milan, who are searching for a new head coach after Massimiliano Allegri’s departure. The Serie A club are pushing to bring Pochettino to Italy, and he appears ready to make the switch once his duties with the USMNT are complete.

Pochettino took charge of the American side in September 2024, managing 24 matches with a record of 14 wins, one draw, and nine defeats. Before his stint with the United States, he built a reputation coaching PSG, Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton, and Espanyol. Now, a return to club football seems imminent, with Milan positioning themselves as his most likely destination. The move would mark the end of an 18‑month chapter in international management and the beginning of a new challenge in Serie A.
