In his statements, Al Somah explained that his contract with Wydad is temporary, limited to the duration of the tournament. "My contract only covers the period of the Club World Cup. All options remain open for what comes next," he said.

He added that it will take one or two weeks to get a clearer picture, while hinting that a return to the Saudi Pro League currently seems the most likely scenario.

Addressing his absence in the opening match against Juventus, the former Al Ahli striker cited an administrative setback: "I tried to join the team earlier, but the procedures for the US visa delayed my arrival."

Despite setbacks against Manchester City (0-2) and Juventus (1-4), Al Somah has shown fighting spirit: "It's a tough group, but we're determined to get a good result against Al Ain."

Indeed, Wydad will play their third and final group stage match this Thursday against Emirati side Al Ain at Audi Field in Philadelphia, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT.
