Mamelodi Sundowns defender Zuko Mdunyelwa believes head coach Miguel Cardoso's intel on Esperance de Tunis will be crucial ahead of the return leg.

The Brazilians secured a 1-0 away win last Sunday - a historic maiden victory in Rades with the second leg scheduled for Saturday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Mdunyelwa says the Downs camp is not getting carried away as the tie is far from over and anticipates an open game against the Tunisian giants in Pretoria.

“The talk amongst the players is to understand that the assignment is not done as yet. The away game was just a first half and the second half is coming up on Saturday,” said the Sundowns stalwart.

"We are expecting them to come guns blazing because it's do or die for them and for us, but considering the fact that we will be playing a home game we will take advantage of that.

The former Chippa United right-back reckons Cardoso's insight will be key to overcoming Esperance as the Portuguese mentor previously coached the Taraji in 2024, guiding the team to the Champions League final.

“It's very crucial for us because he gives us a little bit of insight and things that you cannot see when you watch the game about the players' details, so for me it all boils down to the details that he gives us to the game,” Mdunyelwa added.

Sundowns will be looking to reach back-to-back finals, having fallen to Pyramids last season as they continue their quest for a second star on their crest.
