Nigeria has firmly established itself as Africa’s dominant women’s national team, lifting the Women's AFCON trophy 12 times out of a possible 15. The Super Falcons have only missed out on the title three times— in 2008, 2012, and 2022.

The Nigerian squad are the reigning champions, having clinched the title last July in a dramatic final against Morocco (3-2). In fact, they have never lost a tournament final.

South Africa, champions for the first time in 2022 after defeating Morocco in the final, holds the record for most final losses (five times).
