The 2026 World Cup is proving to be a true trial by fire for national team managers. Since the start of the tournament, results have already led to the exit of eleven coaches, whether by resignations or dismissals.

The latest is Moroccan Jamal Sellami, who stepped down as Jordan's head coach after the "Nashama" were eliminated in the group stage.

This wave of departures hasn't spared football's biggest nations. High-profile coaches leading teams with rich histories have also been forced to step down, including Ronald Koeman with the Netherlands and Julian Nagelsmann with Germany.

Appointed as Jordan's manager in June 2024, Sellami brought an unforgettable chapter to a close. Under his leadership, Jordan achieved the historic feat of qualifying for a World Cup final tournament for the very first time.

His departure comes after a tough World Cup campaign, where Jordan finished bottom of their group after three straight defeats against Austria (3-1), Algeria (2-1), and Argentina (3-1).

With his exit, the number of managers who have left their posts since the start of the competition now stands at eleven.

Before him, Julian Nagelsmann (Germany), Ronald Koeman (Netherlands), Marcelo Bielsa (Uruguay), Carlos Queiroz (Ghana), Steve Clarke (Scotland), Miroslav Koubek (Czech Republic), Hyung Myung (South Korea), and Sebastián Beccacece (Ecuador) had already left their positions.

This list also includes Sabri Lamouchi and Hervé Renard, both of whom managed the Tunisian national team during this World Cup.
