Tunisia will be the fourth African team to kick off their campaign in this 2026 World Cup following South Africa, who fell to Mexico 2-0, along with Morocco and Ivory Coast, who will face Brazil and Ecuador respectively.

The Carthage Eagles are set to face Sweden on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 2:00 a.m. GMT in Group F at Monterrey Stadium in Mexico. The match will be officiated by Argentine referee Yael Falcon Pérez.

The Buenos Aires native will be assisted by fellow countrymen Maximiliano Del Vesso and Facundo Rodriguez. Costa Rican Juan Calderon will serve as the fourth official for this encounter.

Tunisia

Yael Falcon Pérez has taken charge of numerous Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana matches, as well as World Cup qualifiers in the CONMEBOL region. Most recently, he officiated Peru vs Bolivia.

He also refereed Costa Rica vs Paraguay in the 2024 Copa America, in addition to several matches at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, including Atlético Madrid vs Seattle Sounders and Chelsea vs Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
