Algeria: LFP sanctions have been handed down!
The Professional Football League has delivered its verdict following the derby between USM Alger and CR Belouizdad. Two Chabab players have been hit with heavy sanctions and will miss several matches in the upcoming season.
The LFP disciplinary committee has made its ruling. Following the incidents during the USMA-CRB derby on June 2 at the 5-Juillet Stadium (1-1), two Chabab players have each been handed four-match bans: defender Naoufel Khacef and Tunisian striker Mohamed Ali Ben Hammouda.
The punishments don't stop there. Khacef, found guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct and insulting the referee, has also been fined 40,000 DZD. Ben Hammouda, meanwhile, was hit with a 100,000 DZD fine for similar insults after protesting a refereeing decision, earning him a straight red card. The committee clarified that the accumulation of offenses influenced the severity of the sanction.
These decisions come into effect starting June 2, 2026. Both players will serve their suspensions next season, leaving CRB without two key players at the start of the campaign.
