Bayern Munich: end of the road for Raphaël Guerreiro
FC Bayern Munich and Raphaël Guerreiro have mutually agreed not to extend their partnership. The contract of the Portuguese international, who arrived in 2023, will expire at the end of this season.
It's the end of the journey for Raphaël Guerreiro at Bayern Munich. The Portuguese player will not continue with the Bavarian club beyond his current deal and will depart at the season's conclusion, following a joint decision. Sporting director Max Eberl praised his professionalism and the influence he brought to the dressing room.
"We would like to sincerely thank Rapha for his time with us. We could always count on him on the pitch, and he’s one of those players who enrich a locker room."
Signed on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund, Guerreiro contributed to Bayern’s successes, adding a Bundesliga title and a German Supercup to his résumé. In 89 appearances for the Munich side, the 32-year-old scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists. His versatility allowed him to play both as a full-back and in midfield, making him a valuable asset in the rotation.
A solid international career
With the Portugal national team, Guerreiro has earned 65 caps and scored 4 goals. He notably won Euro 2016 and the 2019 Nations League, and featured at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
