Boycotts and Fines: Inside Mostafa Mohamed’s €750k transfer to Konyaspor

Egyptian national team star forward Mostafa Mohamed is on the verge of officially closing a turbulent chapter in France, striking a deal to leave relegated FC Nantes and return to Turkey to join Konyaspor.

A cut-price exit strategy

According to the Turkish network HT Spor, Konyaspor has successfully negotiated a highly favorable €750,000 transfer fee to secure the 28 year old striker.

The relatively low sum will be paid to the French club in three installments.

The official announcement is currently pending a single domino effect, Konyaspor is waiting for their current forward, Blaise Kramer, to finalize his medical and officially transfer to Slovenian side NK Celje before registering Mohamed.

The collapse of the Nantes project

Mohamed's exit from the Stade de la Beaujoire is the culmination of a rapidly deteriorating relationship with the club's management.

The situation reached a breaking point this summer following a disastrous 2025/2026 campaign that saw Nantes relegated to Ligue 2.

Frustrated by a lack of playing time last season and unwilling to compete in the second tier, Mohamed completely boycotted the team's pre-season training camp. In response, the Nantes board levied heavy financial fines against the Egyptian and banished him to train with the reserve squad.

With only one year remaining on his contract, the club ultimately accepted Konyaspor's minimal €750k offer to avoid losing him for free next summer and to clear his wages off the books.
