Brentford: Ibrahim Sangaré's emotional farewell message to Lens fans
Heading to the Premier League with Brentford after a standout season in France, Mamadou Sangaré shared a deeply emotional farewell message to RC Lens before jetting off to England.
A short but unforgettable journey
The Malian international penned a heartfelt note: "Some journeys mark a career, others mark a life. Even though this chapter lasted just one season, it will remain forever etched in my heart," he wrote. Sangaré spoke of "unforgettable moments" and leaves Lens "with much pride, gratitude, and memories for a lifetime." Now, it's time for a new chapter: the Premier League in Brentford colors.
A brief but decisive spell at Lens
Having joined a year ago from Rapid Vienna, Mamadou Sangaré quickly adapted to French Ligue 1. In 33 appearances across all competitions, the 24-year-old midfielder scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists. Most importantly, he played a key role in a historic season. The Sang et Or finished as Ligue 1 runners-up, just behind PSG, before lifting the Coupe de France—the club's first-ever trophy in that competition.
With 16 caps for Mali’s Eagles, Sangaré also leaves the legacy of a player who thrives on challenges. His transfer to Brentford was made official on Saturday. He becomes the most expensive signing in Bees history and the biggest sale ever for RC Lens.
