Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah produced an explosive first-half display against Galatasaray on Saturday, marking the first time in nearly a year and nine months that he has registered three direct goal contributions in a single match.

First-Half brilliance at Papara Park

The Egyptian international dismantled the reigning champions before the interval with a relentless attacking display. Salah opened the scoring for Trabzonspor early in the derby, turned provider to set up his side's second goal and then added the third himself to send the hosts into half-time with an emphatic cushion.

Matching a milestone last achieved at Liverpool

The performance ended an individual drought dating back to his time in the Premier League with Liverpool.

The last time the Egyptian captain had directly contributed to at least three goals in a single fixture was on 29 December 2024. On that occasion, Salah registered one goal and two assists as Liverpool swept aside West Ham United in a comprehensive 5-0 victory.

His first-half masterclass on Saturday ends a 21 month wait to replicate that level of multi-goal involvement in ninety minutes.

Salah’s dominant display in the Turkish derby provides a significant lift to Trabzonspor's frontline as they aim to establish consistency in the Süper Lig. Having shown he can still decide major rivalries almost single handedly, the Black Sea outfit will lean heavily on the 34 year old's form to lead their domestic campaign in the weeks ahead.
