Ivory Coast: Season over for Odilon Kossounou, World Cup participation in doubt!
The Ivory Coast national team is gripped by anxiety over its defensive line ahead of the 2026 World Cup. After Evan Ndicka, it’s now Odilon Kossounou’s turn to announce an early end to his season.
Kossounou was forced off with an injury against AC Milan on May 10. According to Italian media, the Ivorian defender from Atalanta Bergamo suffered a grade 1 muscle tear in his right hamstring.
Although the injury is considered minor, the former Bayer Leverkusen defender is expected to return to the pitch within two or three weeks. However, if his condition worsens, he could miss the long-awaited World Cup.
With Evan Ndicka’s injury and his race against time to be fit for the tournament, Emerse Faé will now have to deal with even more uncertainty regarding Kossounou’s situation.
