Kaizer Chiefs announce the 23 players traveling to Zambia

Kaizer Chiefs are set to travel to Ndola, Zambia, where they will face Red Arrows in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The first leg is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Fernando da Cruz selects the squad

For this encounter, Fernando Da Cruz has selected a squad of 23 players. Among the notable inclusions are Rushwin Dortley, who makes his return, teenage goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba, and Thulani Mabaso, a midfielder who was recently promoted.

The team will, however, be without several players due to injury, including Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Khanyisa Mayo, Langelihle Phili, and Adolf Mtasingwa.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Ronaldo Leaner, Bruce Bvuma, Takalani Mazhamba

Defenders: Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Kabelo Nkgwesa, Inacio Miguel, Rushwin Dortley, Zitha Kwinika, Reeve Frosler, Bradley Cross, Thabo Moloisane

Midfielders: Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Thulani Mabaso, Mduduzi Shabalala, Ethan Chislett, Mfundo Vilakazi

Forwards: Luke Baartman, Asanele Velebayi, Faiz Abrahams, Flavio Da Silva, Wandile Duba, Etiosa Ighodaro

The return leg will take place next weekend, with Kaizer Chiefs hosting at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Looking back at last season, Amakhosi came close to reaching the quarter-finals but ultimately finished third in their group, behind Zamalek and Al-Masry, just short of the top two spots required to advance.
