Kaizer Chiefs forward Khanyisa Mayo and winger Pule Mmodi have firmly set their sights on returning to the Bafana Bafana set-up.

Hugo Broos' charges recently secured their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will also feature in the upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco in December.

Both players made their senior national team debuts in September 2022 and have been out of the Belgian mentor's plans for over a year.

With seven caps to his name and his last appearance dating back to March 2024, the former Cape Town City talisman is eager to work his way into Broos' reckoning ahead of the major tournaments.

“If the team is doing good then we stand a chance to be selected because only if the team is doing good and we will be performing as players then we stand a chance to be in the national team because no player doesn't want to see themselves in the national team,” said Mayo.

On the other hand, Mmodi is also keen to return to the Bafana fold and add to his three caps as he last played for the national team in September 2023.

“Definitely, even me, I do want to go back to the national team set-up and give something to the national team and I will always work hard to see myself back there,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chiefs will swing back to action with a Betway Premiership encounter against Siwelele FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
