Liverpool line up €100m rising star as Salah exit looms

Liverpool have identified RB Leipzig’s 19 year old winger Yan Diomandé as their leading target to replace Mohamed Salah who is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the 2025 /26 season.

The move has internal backing at the club but competition from Paris Saint Germain is already shaping the battle for one of Europe’s most in-demand young attackers.

Salah’s exit forces Liverpool into action

Salah is set to depart as a free agent next summer bringing an end to a defining era at Liverpool.

His expected exit has accelerated recruitment plans, with the club now focusing on securing a long-term replacement capable of reshaping the attack.

Diomandé has quickly emerged as the priority name.

PSG move early, talks underway

Paris Saint Germain are not waiting. Under sporting director Luis Campos, the French club have already held discussions with the player’s representatives and are closely tracking his situation.

Liverpool meanwhile are also in contact with Diomandé’s new agency. Talks remain at an early stage, with no formal offer submitted and no direct negotiations yet opened with RB Leipzig.

Leipzig set high price, push for renewal

RB Leipzig are in a strong position. The Bundesliga side signed Diomandé from Leganés for around €20 million last summer and his rapid rise has dramatically increased his market value.

He is currently valued at around €75 million but Leipzig are expected to demand more than €100 million (£85m+). The club would prefer to keep him for at least another season and are preparing improved contract offer in attempt to delay a sale.

Breakout season drives interest

Diomandé’s numbers explain the growing attention. The Ivory Coast international has recorded 13 goal and 8 assist in 32 appearance this season establishing himself as one of the most productive young wingers in Europe.

Operating primarily from the left, he is known for cutting inside onto his stronger right foot, combining pace, directness and finishing ability.

His physical profile and output at a young age have already drawn comparisons with elite level attackers.

Backup plans already considered

Liverpool are not limiting themselves to one option. If a deal for Diomandé proves too complex or expensive, PSG’s Bradley Barcola has been identified as a possible alternative.
